Bee good to our environment and try seeded envelopes
Recently we stocked our virtual shelves with a new kind of awesome envelope. As you likely know, all of our envelopes are recyclable and biodegradable - and this is an important part of Enviroflute's core values and mission as a company. But we went one step further this month and started stocking seeded envelopes too.
As the name suggests, there are actual wildflower seeds embedded in the envelope meaning that the whole item can be planted in your garden or flower pot after it's been used to store that all-important message, gift or note.
It's the cutest thing we have ever seen, being both visually stunning and bee friendly. It's bee-cause we care! Our Enviroflute team intend to continue doing our utmost to entice our customers and businesses with sustainable postal, packaging and printing solutions.
Speaking of, did you catch our fun facts quiz? Click above and test your knowledge of all things packaging and trees!
Every time a customer receives a seeded envelope - which is handmade using residual cotton from the textile industry where old clothes have been turned into paper and then the wildflower seeds are mixed into the paper - they can then cut it into pieces and spread it under some compost. We've included the full instructions at the bottom of this post. It's such a cute way to show you care about the planet. And as you would have seen if you took the above quiz, when a whopping 4 billion trees are cut down each year to meet our world's material demand for paper, it feels pretty important to give back. And what better way to do that than to plant some bee-friendly flowers?
If you'd like to get involved, check out our two sizes - the C5 seeded envelope and C6 seeded envelope. You could even print a cute little message on the envelope to let your customers know that the envelope is fully 'plantable'.
And don't forget to send your customers these instructions so they know how to plant their envelopes. Or DOWNLOAD OUR PLANTING INSTRUCTION CARD that you can send as a link in a personalised email.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLANTING:
Here are our instructions for growing the seeds into flowers from the envelope. It's a fun, eco-friendly way to contribute to the garden after using the envelope.
Steps to grow your seeds:
- Gather the following: your seeded envelope, a small container, tray, or pot, potting soil, suitable gardening gloves and water.
- Prepare the seed envelope: Cut the envelope paper into small pieces, approximately 1-2 inches in size. Wet the envelope so it starts to soften.
- Prepare the pot: Fill the pot or tray halfway with compost or soil. Now add the wet pieces of the envelope. Slowly add more water to ensure the envelope pieces are completely soaked. Top with a layer of potting soil over the envelope pieces.
- Place in a sunny spot: Once the container is filled, place it in a sunny spot and water it every day.
- Watch your envelope grow: After a few days, the seeds should start to grow and become visible, and within a week or two your new addition will become a mini-flowering garden pot which will encourage bees and bugs to come and visit.
